Odisha Paddy Procurement 2025-26: The Odisha government has made a significant move to improve the lives of paddy farmers in the state. On Wednesday, the government announced that district collectors can extend the validity of tokens issued to farmers by an additional 15 days. This decision aims to guarantee that all farmers have the chance to sell their paddy in government markets throughout the Kharif marketing season. Concerns were voiced both within the Assembly and beyond, as opposition parties rallied to demand justice for farmers. In response to widespread protests throughout the state regarding the mishandling of paddy procurement in Odisha, the government has taken action.

Farmers were facing difficulties with tokens

The state government has implemented a system in which registered farmers receive tokens during the paddy procurement process, allowing them to sell their produce at designated markets within a set period. Reports have emerged claiming that farmers are struggling to meet the deadlines outlined on their tokens due to delays occurring at the markets.

Token validity extended by 15 days

In a recent video message, Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister KC Patra announced that district collectors now have the authority to extend token validity by 15 days. This decision aims to guarantee that all registered farmers can sell their produce smoothly and without any challenges. Minister KC Patra announced that paddy procurement is progressing effectively, thanks to the direct oversight of the Central Command Center, and that farmers are allowed to sell their produce in government markets until the end of the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) on March 31.
